Running into Problems?

Back To Action

Running injuries are typically overuse syndromes and are preventable and treatable.

Most injuries are the result of poor foot or hip mechanics caused by improper form or muscle strength imbalance. For instance, Achilles tendonitis is often caused by poor use of the gluteus maximus during the push off phase of gait. Plantar fasciitis can be caused by poor shoes or from always running with the crown of the road on the same side. Lumbar and pelvis mal-alignment may lead to groin and knee syndromes.

If you are having consistent aches and pains during or after running, you may be using poor running mechanics, using improper shoes, or have muscle imbalances or alignment problems in the lumbar/pelvic/hip complex.

Physical therapists are professionals trained in the assessment of body mechanics and proper gait and can help you into a pain-free running season.
